It is said that her fish is about to dance out of the page. Her flower is so vivid, the color and fragrance attracts butterflies.
She lived a beautiful life of love, inspiration and creation. She loved every minute of life. She loved her children and grandchildren. She loved every flower and plant growing in her garden. She loved cooking delicious food for family and friends. She made amazing cloths and knitted sweaters for her children. She has an amazing spirit of generosity. She always put others first and helped friends in need unconditionally. She was an amazing choreographer and dancer. But her true love is painting. After her retirement as a successful choreographer, she started study Chinese traditional free style painting with various masters. This was her childhood dream of becoming a painter. After several year, she is invited to exhibit her works and start to gain recognition with awards. Her work eventually took to America to do solo exhibitions. Her works are now collected by private collector in the US, Europe, China and Hong Kong.
She was respectful of the long held traditions of brushwork. But she went beyond the tradition and started experimenting and creating new works in her own unique style. Her fish is truly unique. They took inspiration from her earlier career as a dancer. It incorporated the dance movement with traditional free style brushwork. That’s why they are known as “Dancing Fish”. She also took on her self to combine western watercolor and inspiration from oil painting and combined with traditional Chinese brushwork and used different color papers as background. She sometimes did some amazing experimentations with the paper itself and the way it is applied unto the papers. The results is amazing.
Everyone who looked at her painting can sense the wonder of life and the amazing spirit that radiates from them. They are most spirited and lively. Her work will live on as a unique star in the long traditions of Chinese traditional painting. It paves the way to future generations to study and create new works that are from the tradition but not limited by that tradition.
